Tibet Fest V

My recent participation in the Tibet Fest V in Connecticut was a wonderful break from the recent intense organizing of sound files for Semshae album mixing. Michel Tyabji, manager and percussionist, and I met in LA and did a short rehearsal and headed to Connecticut.

The Tibet Fest V started with the usual opening prayers by the Drepung Goman monks and Sangsol (incense offering). This was followed by performances by Tibetan and American artists. The two-day festival went really well. Michel Weik, the chief festival organizer, her family members and friends, gave all they could to organize this festival. The American attendance was less than previous years, but the Tibetan gathering was wonderful and the artist line up was excellent.

Kesang Mastrand, a Tibetan-American singer, stole the hearts of many of the audience with her soulful and original songs all in English. Tenzin Chogyal from Australia did some interesting acts mixing Tibetan and Indian music styles. Find out more info at TibetFest.com. Also, check out some of the photos at:  PicasaWeb

TibetFest V, Goshen Park, Connecticut

My good news to share is that the Semshae: Songs from the Heart album mixes are finally done, with the recording and mixing and ready for release. Hooray! I am grateful to the individuals and organizations whose financial support helped me to reach this step. If you have children or know of anyone who has children, ask them to listen to Semshae samples at MySpace.com/semshae

Now in order for me to reach the next step which is to distribute this cd, I need to raise another $15,000 for the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution. Without this, the master will not fly anywere. I hope you will all consider helping the Phase II of the project. I hope the album will be out in two months.

Taiwan and Japan Tour

Please note that our concert in Taiwan is postponed due to the hurricane.

Our concert in Tokyo, Japan, will take place at Suntory Hall on September 13, 2009. I have learned that my organizers had created a "TEAM Techung", which has about 25 members volunteering to make this concert successful. I am quite humbled by their efforts.

The seats are limited so please get your tickets soon. For more information please visit Ray-Light.net
