Festival and concerts
December 2010
Thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Techung and I am a Tibetan folk and freedom singer.
Last month, I was part of the 11th annual San Francisco World Music Festival. My daughter Yangchen Lhamo, 18, performed a classical Tibetan song "Jhola Tashi" as part of the Youth Orchestral Program. Here are couple of photos of Yangchen. Learn more about the festival at DoorDog.org.
This month, I will be heading to India and Nepal to promote Semshae - Heart Songs— a Tibetan children's music album. I will be organizing and participating in Free Tashi Dhondup and Dhondup Wangchen concerts in India and then later in other cities.
The first concert for Tashi Dhondup and Dhondup Wangchen will be held at a Gurdwara near Tibetan Camp on December 11, 2010 at 7.30 PM. And the next concert is going to be held in Dharamshala on December 13 at TIPA. For info contact +91 98914 47070 or email:

Tashi Dhondup is a popular singer from the eastern Tibetan region of Amdo. He was arrested following the 2009 release of a CD containing songs which included lyrics calling for the Dalai Lama's return to Tibet and lamenting that "There is no freedom in Tibet."
Tashi Dhondup is currently serving a two-year term in a forced labor camp for his pro-Tibetan music.

Dhondup Wangchen is a Tibetan film maker currently in prison by the Chinese government. According to sources in Tibet, Chinese authorities sentenced Dhondup Wangchen to a six-year prison sentence on December 28th, 2009. His trial was held in secret and he was denied access to a lawyer of his choosing.
